Expanding Horizons in Organoid Technology

The field of organoid technology has seen rapid advancements in recent years, especially in the domain of precision medicine for cancer patients. Dr.Somponnat Sampattavanich recently had the privilege to get connected to the organoid community in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, share SISP organoid research, and explore potential collaborations that could shape the future of this industry in SEA. The trip involved multiple key milestones.

Milestone 1: Presentation at ACB 2023

The trip began with the presentation on SiSP organoid progress by Dr.Somponnat at ACB 2023, an AFOB (Asian Federation of Biotechnology) conference. The talk focused on the latest advancements we have made in scaling SiSP organoids and their potential applications in drug testing and personalized treatment plans for cancer patients. The response from the scientific community was pleasing, and the dialogue that ensued promises to shape the direction of our future research.

Milestone 2: Visiting VOS Discovery

The next leg of Dr.Somponnat’s journey was at VOS Discovery, a new venture in Vietnam by Organoid Sciences. VOS Discovery is setting new benchmarks in organoid-based research, and the visit offered invaluable insights into how startups in emerging markets are contributing to this global effort.

Milestone 3: Exploring Collaborations with Organoid Sciences

While at VOS Discovery, Dr.Somponnat had the opportunity to discuss potential collaborations with executives from Organoid Sciences. We are currently exploring the possibility of a joint venture in Thailand that would focus on bringing organoid-based technology to a wider audience. These discussions are in early stages but are filled with promise and mutual ambition.

Milestone 4: Meeting Leading Korean Scientists

The trip also provided a rare opportunity to meet and interact with leading Korean scientists in the field. This included Prof. Jongman Yoo from Cha University, Dr. KyungJin Lee from Organoid Sciences, Prof. Sung Gap Im from KAIST, Dr. Mi-Young Son from KRIBB, and Prof. Young Chang Lim from Konkuk University. Each meeting offered unique perspectives and possibilities for future collaboration, further enriching the experience.

The trip was an eye-opener in many ways and has laid the groundwork for many exciting collaborations. As we look to the future, our team is more committed than ever to advancing the field of organoid technology, especially in the context of precision medicine for cancer patients. We are particularly looking forward to the close collaboration with the Organoid Sciences team in the coming months. Together, we aim to break new ground in this fascinating and vitally important domain.
